The author use on the first page are imagery because you can imagine those characters  and urgals and the way they are. and description because the author describes the way things are

Specific lines that demonstrate the authors use of imagery are " He looked human except for his crimson red hair and maroon eyes" These lines add description on how things look and you start seeing them in your head

Shade and urgals and author describes them as mystical creatures that are creepy and they live in their own world
