In the story, Thomas, Minho, and Alby got locked out of Glade and were stuck in the Maze after not making it out of the Gates in time. Alby was injured by Grievers and the two had to decide what to do with him. Minho had left him while Thomas stayed with him. Minho has given up hope on getting out of the Maze. This can seen in the story when it says, " Minho abruptly jumped at Thomas and grabbed him by the shirt. 'You don't understand, shuck-face! You don't know anything, and your'e just making it worse by trying to have hope! We're dead, you hear me? Dead!" (pg 117) This shows how Minho doesn't believe that getting out of the Maze is possible. He has given up and gave in to death.
Thomas would be a good friend to have. He doesn't abandon others. This can seem when the book stated, "He couldn't leave a friend to die. Even someone as cranky as Alby.". This line is significant because this show that he wouldn't leave any of his friends behind and would always have their back. Even if they're in great danger with monster hunting them down. He would still try his best to help you even if other left you.
Thomas even though he knows that he is going to die in the maze, he still takes Alby with him all around. Even though Alby is going to die from the poison in his body, Thomas still takes him with him. He is a good friend and cares about his friends more than his life. "He knew he couldn't go up- that would only bring the Griever across the path of Alby." This shows that Thomas is careful about what he does and thinks things through.
